All learners are required to take the following core subjects:

IsiZulu (Home Language – HL)

English (First Additional Language – FAL)

Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy

In addition to the core subjects, learners in Grades 8 and 9 are introduced to a broad range of learning areas to provide a solid foundation across disciplines. These include:

Subject Streams: Grades 10–12

From Grade 10 onwards, learners select a focused academic stream based on their interests and career aspirations. The three academic departments are: Commerce, Humanities, and Sciences. In addition to the core subjects, learners choose subjects within their selected stream:
